SR

Faculties of all the universities of the State will organise a symbolic sit-in on July 21, protesting against the proposal of the State government to transfer university teachers.

Notably, faculties of Barkatullah University are already wearing black ribbons to register their protest against the proposal. A meeting of Barkatullah University Teachers Association (BUTA) general body was conducted here on Thursday to decide further course of agitation.

BUTA Chairman, Professor HS Yadav said that this decision of the government is an encroachment on the autonomy of the university. He further said that by this act, the government is trying to bring the universities under its control. He further said that before making changes in Madhya Pradesh University Act 1973, the government officials had not discussed with any of the university professors.

It was also discussed in the meeting that the transfer of teachers will also affect the students’ PhD and project works being undertaken by them. Moreover, government has not cleared in its proposal whether the professors brought projects from some other universities would take away those projects with them after transfer.

While discussing on various issues, professor Yadav further informed that there is also no clarity in the proposal regarding the lab equipments, which were allotted to the labs as donations.
