The conference witnessed participation from Ministers of Education and Youth & Sports, senior officers from the Ministry of Defence, representatives of State Departments overseeing NCC affairs, NCC heads from all states, and senior officers from the Headquarters of DGNCC. The primary agenda focused on the expansion of the NCC by 3 lakh cadets, a proposal that has already received concurrence from several states. These states also assured swift clearance and facilitation of the training infrastructure necessary to support the expansion.

The Director General of NCC (DGNCC) highlighted the corps’ significant progress and achievements, and detailed plans for future growth. Emphasis was placed on establishing well-equipped training and camping infrastructure across all states to boost cadet motivation and performance.

In his address, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth underlined the vital role of the NCC in nation-building, praising its effectiveness in shaping disciplined, responsible, and motivated youth while fostering leadership skills. He noted that the expansion would open employment opportunities for ex-servicemen (ESM) as NCC instructors, a process already underway.

The minister also lauded the NCC’s active participation in national initiatives such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Naya Savera Scheme, and Nasha Mukti Abhiyan, underscoring the corps’ commitment to societal welfare alongside traditional training programs. He commended the recent success of the NCC Mt. Everest Expedition team, which summited Mt. Everest on May 18, 2025, as a testament to the cadets’ courage, determination, and adventurous spirit.

Sanjay Seth urged state governments to honor their commitments by providing the required manpower, funding, and infrastructure to support the NCC’s expansion.

The special JS R&A/D Conference reflects a collaborative approach between central and state authorities aimed at strengthening the NCC’s role in national development and fostering a promising future for India.

The conference also featured interactive sessions where state representatives shared best practices and discussed challenges in implementing NCC programs. Several innovative ideas were proposed to enhance cadet training, including the incorporation of advanced technology and digital learning tools.
