UNDP has partnered with AISECT to support the Green Initiatives of the Government of India, under which the possibilities of Green Jobs for a Sustainable Future will be worked out.

The Indian economy has been badly affected due to Covid pandemic. Keeping this in mind, a Green Recovery Action Plan is being prepared in which nature-based jobs and livelihoods will be promoted. Abhishek Gupta, National Head, AISECT Project, said that under this project, green jobs and skills will be identified which will be necessary for the green transport sector.

In this, an action plan will be prepared keeping women in mind especially. In its initial pilot project, 3000 people will be trained in which 60 percent will be women. Out of this, 2000 will be encouraged for eco-entrepreneurship along with providing jobs in the relevant field.

Giving information about this partnership between UNDP and AISECT, Siddharth Chaturvedi, Director, AISECT Group, said that green jobs are important for the future as they help in the economic progress of the country along with environmental balance.

This partnership with UNDP is also significant from the perspective that it seeks to empower women by providing them training.
