Ujjain municipal commissioner Anshul Gupta has started innovation 'Waste to Wealth' in the field of daily collection and disposal of garbage and improving its compost production and sale every year.
The figures show that from 2017 there is a steep increase in the production of compost as well as income from compost sale. Year 2021 compost sale amount is four times the compost sale amount of 2017.The compost production in the year 2017-2018 was 1430 MT which was sold for Rs 51 lakh and the compost production rose to 5415 MT in the year 2021-2022 and which was sold for Rs 2 crore 4 lakhs.
Ujjain municipal commissioner Anshul Gupta told The Pioneer that the UMC has tie up with the cement companies and national fertilizers limited NFL. The cement companies buy RDF and use it as raw material and national fertilizers NFL buys compost. Also, the flower which is offered to different templesin Ujjain is collected as waste and is sold to agarbatti manufacturing plant in Ujjain.
