Tyres worth Rs 40 lakh stolen from godown

Staff Reporter

Miscreants have stolen at least 160 tyres of different types worth around Rs 40 lakh from a godown at Misrod in the wee hours on Thursday.

However, the security guard who was sleeping at a nearby shed had no clue how and when the tyres were taken away as there were no marks of the tyres. The godown is owned by one Ajay Singh. Police said on Thursday morning the security guard found the godown lock broken and the owner was immediately informed. The victim lodged a complaint with the Misrod police and after preliminary investigation the police have registered a case.

Ajay claimed that around 160 tyres worth Rs 35-40 lakh were found missing and said security guard used to sleep near the godown but he was not aware about the burglary. Station House Officer of Misrod Anil Shukla said there were no visible marks of tyres near the spot which raises suspicion and only few tyres with soil and mud in the godown left by the miscreants.

He said the proofs provided by the owner of the godown having mud and soil were not acceptable as the miscreants who took the tyres would not waste time in keeping the tyres back in the godown. The police are not ready to buy the theory and are going to investigate the matter.
