The crime branch nabbed two vehicle-lifters and recovered two vehicles worth Rs 1 lakh from their possession on Thursday.
Acting on a tip off, a youth involved in stealing scooter was detained from Karond culvert and when he was questioned regarding stealing of scooter he initially tried to mislead the police and later confessed that the scooter was stolen from Alpana trisection around eight months ago.
The nabbed accused was identified as Ifran (25) of Karond. In the initial investigation the nabbed accused confessed that he had stolen the scooter along with his accomplice Anas (24) of Arif Nagar and has provided the vehicle for selling.
Based on the information Anas was nabbed and scooter was recovered from his possession. In the process police recovered one more scooter which was stolen by Anas. Details of the scooter recovered from Anas are under investigation.
During the investigation police found that Anas works as driver while Irfan works with contractor.
The crime record of the two would be searched in the further investigation. The Nishatpura police have been informed regarding the vehicle lifters and crime record of the two would be searched by the police.
The two would target the vehicles at busy market places and would escape with the vehicle after tracing the owner of the vehicle.
Police suspects that more crimes would be revealed by the nabbed accused and recoveries of stolen vehicles would be done.
The accomplices who have helped in stealing and disposing the stolen vehicles would be nabbed said the police.
