I have turned my disability into my power,” says social activist Poonam Shroti. She was addressing the young students and the faculty members of Trinity Institute of Technology and Research where a seminar was organised observing the National Women’s Day. On the occasion the young Sarpanch Bhakti Sharma was also present and interacted with the students.

During the seminar, both the guest speakers talked about women empowerment, gender equality and motivated the students to give their life’s best shot every time they face a challenge.

Shroti is a social activist and is working for the equality of disable persons in society. She runs an NGO called Uddip Social and Welfare Society in Bhopal.

While addressing the students, Shroti said, “As I am suffering with Ostegenesis Imperfecta I have faced a lot of challenges in my life. I always wanted to do something that challenges me and so I began an organization through which I can work for the disabled.”

Sharing some of her life experiences she asked the students not to give up ever in life. “If you fail once try harder the next time to get success. If I can, then anyone can,” she said.

On the other hand, Bhakti Sharma told the students that the world is developing and they should grab each opportunity that comes their way. “I was at United States for studies and job if I wanted I could have stayed there. But, I always wanted to do something for my country and so I took a decision that entirely changed my life.” She said that women are not far behind any man, all the hardest jobs a man can do even the woman can. She talked about gender equality and women empowerment in society.

later, faculty member Risha Dastagir gave mementos to the guest speakers.
