A three-day theatre workshop on gender equality ‘Its Possible’ is being organised by Ansh Happiness Society. The workshop is being conducted by Kumud Singh of Sarokar group and Pragya Mohanty of PHIA Foundation.
While addressing the participants of theatre workshop, Kumud and Pragya talked about gender equality and about women can be treated equally as men.
Addressing the workshop Kumud said, “Do not know how many questions arise when we talk about gender and sex. If 'sex' is defined, then it is a 'biological' word which is the identity of being a man or a woman since birth which cannot be changed. At the same time, 'Gender' is a social mindset that changes with culture, country and time.”
Talking about the old times, experts said that men have been using jewelery. But if someone does this today, then it is believed that men are behaving like a woman and society becomes judgmental. During the discussion issues like Women cannot wear jeans, they are not strong like men, the women will do all the work, man never cries and more were raised and were discussed upon.
In order to aware about the gender equality among the youth, PHIA foundation and Ansh Happiness Society organized the three day workshop that began from Monday. Young artists from Kafila Group participated in this workshop.
This workshop aims at promoting gender sensitivity in the youth. After this three-day workshop, the youth group will prepare a street play on 'Gender Equality' which will be performed in different locations of the city in mid-January.
