The Central Finance Department recently announced an opium policy for the upcoming opium tenancy season, due to which the interest of opium tenants is going to be hurt.
Due to the natural environment of Mandsaur Parliamentary constituency and the situation of land accustomed and other variations, the interests of farmers are certain to be affected due to the land being demolished and due to the new opium policy, there is not only disappointment among the farmers but also anger against the BJP Government said District Congress President and former MLA Navkrishna Patil in a press release.
Thousands of tenant farmers will be deprived of sowing opium crop due to being slit on the basis of morphine, but its figures will increase every year continuously. Due to inconsistencies in the investigation process of the Narcotics Department and departmental corruption, the exact amount and other parameters of the Mafin are still being tested, but the Union Finance Ministry instead of improving the investigation process, denied the farmers to sow opium crop by making half of the Mafin.
Poppy farmers are constantly demanding to increase the price of opium. Due to continuous increase in the cost of poppy crop and misleading farmers by the smugglers, the farmers are unknowingly falling prey to NDC act, which is the main reason for the farmers not getting the full price of opium.
Presently, due to the hard work of the farmers as well as the huge expenditure on irrigation, agricultural medicines etc., poppy tenants should increase the prices of opium, every year the government issues the opium policy but the farmers' government of the BJP Government are not ready to accept .
