Theatre puppet show 'Pacotille' tomorrow

Staff Reporter

Alliance Française de Bhopal, the Indo-French Cultural Centre, with the support of the French Embassy of India in collaboration with Jehan Numa Retreat, is organising a theatre puppet show Pacotille by Compagnie Crea. The play would be staged here on Sunday at Antarang Hall, Bharat Bhavan. Noticeably, Pacotille is a play with handheld human size puppets made from old newspaper.

Their characters are developing while meeting the actress on stage. The idea of play was to use simple materials such as old newspaper and second hand clothes and to create something that isn’t fixed, which allows everyone to have their own image and to lose themselves in their own dreams. The play will feature artists Aude Maréchal and Fanny Potel.

Notably, Aude Maréchal is a director, actress and puppeteer. She has mainly been trained at the Papillon Noir Theatre and the Ecole de Théâtre in Paris. She performs in Paris, Rouen, Cholet, Caen, Bordeaux, Metz and also outside France. In 2006, she started her own company in Caen “Deci-Dela” and staged “plays on an international level.

On the other hand, Fanny Potel is an actress and a costume designer. Since she was 7-year-old, she hasn’t left the stage floor since and has educated herself with directors, mainly from Normandy. For two years, she took a theatre course at the Conservatoire in Caen. She participates in many festivals, carnivals and fairs.
