On the second day of Odisha Mahotsav, the traditional Odissi dance Gotipua and a famous Odia play Eka Maati Aneka Akasha were performed at Bharat Bhavan.

On Thursday, the theatre buffs of the city witnessed two wondrous performances and enjoyed them to the fullest.

The cultural performance commenced with the Gotipua folk dance, presented by the artistes of Aradhna Dance Academy, Bhubaneswar, Odisha wonderfully.

It was choreographed by founder-director of Academy Chitrasen Swain. They were accompanied with Manoj Kumar Mati on vocal, Rashmi Ranjan Mishra on Madal and Gopal Das on flute.

Gotipua is traditional dance form of Odisha, which was performed with a lot of enthusiasm. Interestingly, boys dressed as girls perform this dance form.

later, the Odia play Eka Maati Aneka Akasha was staged. Written by Pranabandhu Kar in Eka Maati Aneka Akasha.

The play was presented by Shatabdira Kalakar. It is one of the unpublished works of Kar, which was released recently. The play reflected the very style of the pioneering Odia writer that sought to explore the psychological reactions of his characters rather than narrating the situations directly. His works compelled the audience transcend reality and be the part of the narrative.

The play opens with three men in wait of their host. As the tension begins to build, they strike an idea of narrating their most memorable and best kept secret to kill time.

As the three end their accounts, the host presents herself. To the shock of everyone, she is the very woman, who had come into their lives at different times loved, betrayed, used and spurned before finding an actual anchor in a childhood mate.

And, the jam-packed audience at Bharat Bhavan was jolted into reality. For over an hour-and-a-half, they had been transported into the world woven by Pranabandhu Kar in Eka Maati Aneka Akasha.

The audience enjoyed the play whole-heartedly. The matured acting skills and the light effects added much zeal to the presentation.
