The students are learning various techniques of science at the last session of summer vacation activity, ‘Creative Science’ being organised at Regional Science Centre.

Besides, various activities, they have also experienced the facts about the rocketry at the fourth day of the session. At the science workshop here on Friday, the students have done the rocket launch testing of the model rockets they have prepared during the creative science.

Noticeably, as many as 20 students of different schools have participated in the model rocketry workshop. On the third day of the workshop, the students completed their model rockets and prepared them for the launch testing.

On Thursday the students prepared four rockets individually here. Besides, they prepared altitude tracker to track the rocket and an altitude calculator to measure the height of the launched rocket.

During the five-day workshop, the students learnt to measure the centre of gravity and centre of pressure of a rocket and made the swing test for all the rockets they have prepared.

On the fourth day of the workshop, the students gave a launch testing at the Regional Science Centre’s premises at 3.30 pm. After a trial all the model rockets are set to be launched on the concluding day of the workshop. The students will launch their rockets before their parents at 3 pm.

While talking to The Pioneer, Education Officer of Regional Science Centre, MM Rout said, “The students are really excited for the final launching of their model rockets. Further, I am astonished to see that all the middle school children are so curious to know the facts.”

He further said, “last year the highest calculated distance of final rocket launching was 90 meters, this year it may go higher.”

The students are excited and enthusiastic about the final launching test. Another science workshop for engineering college students would begin on June 11, Rout further informed.
