Staff Reporter

An idol making workshop was organised on Sunday. The students of various schools participated in this workshop and made  environment friendly Ganpati statue. The workshop was organized by Nalini Education and Social Welfare society. In this workshop, around 100 students from class 9 to 12 participated and learned to make Ganesh idol. While making the idol of Ganapati, seed was planted in it, which  encouraged plantation as well as reverence for the tree in the memory of Lord Ganesh.

Some seeds were also added to the Ganesha idols so that after the statue dissolves in the water, those seeds will remain as plants with soil and our houses will remain green and nature will also remain green. This will also protect the environment.

To explain the importance of trees to the children, the chairman of the committee, Ujjwal Majumdar trained the students in statue making and assisted the students in making the statue. Arya Soni, Shalu Majumdar and school teacher Ragini Saini and Vandana gave special guidance. During this time the students made clay sculptures of their choice. In it, Ganesha is seated on a lotus flower, then in a kanhyasayana posture.
