It was a happy day for the children as well as the elderly inmates of Apna Ghar old age home, when they all celebrated the festival of colours together.
The young students of Parvarish -The Museum School visited the Apna Ghar old age home to celebrate Rang Panchmi.
It was a great attempt by the young children to spread the happiness among the elderly.
The old age home inmates who have left behind a colourful life and are living their second innings, were too excited to see young children celebrating with them. “It was a sight to watch. All the grandmas and grandpas of the old age home were more than happy to see us,” shared founder of Parvarish The Museum School Shibani Ghosh.
Shibani also accompanied the children and celebrated the festival with a lot of fervour. She further told The Pioneer, “Even the children were very excited to be a part of the event. It was wondrous day,” she added.
The day began with the colourful zest as children put colours of grandpas and grandmas face. It was followed with the cultural programme. The old age home inmates recited poetries for the children and then it was followed by few musical performances by the children for the inmates.
“The inmates however get a bit emotional as they miss their home during these festivals. But, the inmates very enthusiastically and energetically celebrated the event with the kids. It all seemed like they were reliving their childhood,” said founder of Apna Ghar Madhuri Mishra.
The children later, distributed some sweets and played colour with the inmates
