Story of search for real identity

SR

The story of four characters searching for their real identity was seen in a Hindi play ‘Pratibimb’ (Reflection). The play was staged here on Wednesday, at Antrang Hall, Bharat Bhavan.

The play is directed by a noted theatre director of the city Sanajy Mehta and was presented by Prayog Theatre Group. The presentation of the play mesmerised the audiences as they were able to connect themselves with the story line.

The play began with introducing a common man who wakes up in the morning and gets worried. The reason of his worry was a mirror. As he looks himself into the mirror he doesn’t find his reflection and so he gets restless. The other character Jhanda Babu is a man who wears different faces and reacts according to the situations. This character has lost his real identity in behaving under the influence of the situation.

There is one woman who tries to attract the common man, but does not have any effect on him. Another girl showcases the personality of such girls who find themselves incomplete without the man. The play ends showing all the characters searching for their real identity and image. All the characters defined different sections of the society and people living with fake faces.

While talking to The Pioneer, director Sanjay Mehta said, “This play is a story of each and every individual who loves his image in the society and of those people who have a fear of losing their identity in this world.” Elaborating further, he said, “The people are so worried about their image and personality in the society. I have tried to portray the worry of an individual as well as I have keenly studied the major points responsible for this human behaviour,” he added.

The audience enjoyed the show whole heartedly. The artists on-stage put a fine impression over the audiences and the audiences were spell-bounded with the performance as the play reached the climax. Further, the lighting according to the mood of the scenes enhanced the whole environment at Antrang Hall.
