The historic decision of demonetisation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received wide support from the farmers of Madhya Pradesh. Arrival of agriculture crops in the mandis has grown as compared to the arrival of crops last year. Increase of more than 31.92 percent in agriculture crop arrival has been registered in the month of November and December, 2016 as compared to the year 2015.
MP State Agriculture Marketing Board’s Managing Director Rakesh Shrivastava informed that 18.94 lakh metric tonne of agriculture crops has arrived in agriculture produces mandi committees of the state in the month of November 2016, which was 17.32 lakh metric tonne in the month of November, 2015. An increase of 9.37 per cent has been registered in this way. Moreover, in the month of December 2016, agriculture crops in krishi upaj mandis has arrived at maximum as compare to the same month in the last four years. In the year 2016, 34.22 lakh metric tonne crop has arrived which was 22.98 lakh metric tonne in the month of December, 2015. An increase of 48.91 per cent in arrival has been registered. Total arrival of crops is more than 31.92 per cent in the month of November and December, 2016 as compare to the year 2015.
Principal Secretary Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Rajesh Rajora informed that cash transaction of `200 crore used to take place annually in the mandis of the state before the demonetisation. Around 95 per cent decrease was registered in cash transactions after the demonetisation. Only five percent cash transaction took place in the month of November and December, 2016. This has become possible due to cashless arrangements made at the mandis.
After the decision of demonetisation, the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in special meetings had directed to make a system in the mandis to ensure timely payment in a transparent manner to the farmers. After the directives of the Chief Minister arrangement to ensure payment in all the krishi upaj mandis through RTGS, NEFT, Bankers Cheque and account payee cheque were made.
