The Gwalior district has played an important role in bringing Madhya Pradesh at the top in agricultural developmental rate. The area of rabi and kharif crop has increased in Gwalior district and also there is significant increase in production and productivity.
For this, the agricultural production commissioner MM Upadhyaya honoured collector district Gwalior P Narhari by providing citation.
The agriculture production commissioner gave the citation to P Narhari in a review meeting of divisional meeting of Rabi and Kharif crops organised in Moti Mahal auditorium.
It may be noted that the production of Rabi crop in Gwalior district in 2012-13 from more than 193000 hectares of land while the Rabi crop last year in 2011-12 was in 184000 hectares of land.
This year the production of Rabi crop was 547000 metric tons which was more than 68000 metric tons last year. last year the productivity was 2603 kilogram per hectare. This year it increased to 2827 kilogram per hectares.
The area of Kharif was 71000 hectares in 2011 which increase to 82000 hectares in 2012. This year in the year 2013 the sowing of kharif crop has been proposed at 99000 hectares. The kharif production was 153000 metric tons in the year 2011 which increase to 268000 metric tons in 2012. This year a target of kharif production has been kept at 370000 metric tons which is more the 38% from the last year.
Similarly the agricultural productivity was 210039 kilograms per hectare in 2011 which increase to 3199 kilograms per hectares in 2012. It was proposed to keep a target of 2733 kilograms per hectares.
According to the intention of the Government to make the agriculture profitable profession the collector P Narhari ordered to implement the scheme through special strategy to the officers of Kisan welfare and agricultural development horticulture, animal husbandry, cooperative departments.
He also said that sufficient storage of agricultural storage to be kept so that the farmers should not phase any problem to getting fertilisers and seeds. Narhari laid special emphasis to provide standard fertilisers and seed to the
farmers.
