The Madhya Pradesh Assembly was on Tuesday adjourned sine die following a ruckus created by main Opposition Congress for the second consecutive day demanding resignation of Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta over the gang-rape of a Swiss tourist in Datia district recently.
As soon as proceedings began, leader of Opposition Ajay Singh demanded Gupta's resignation. Congress members joined the chorus and shouted slogans against the government.
Speaker Ishwardas Rohani said the Question Hour was very important and the Congress members should cooperate. He said a discussion could be held after the Question Hour. Singh said the issue raised by the Opposition was equally important and stuck to his demand. Amid din, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings for half-an-hour.
When the House reassembled, Congress members again disrupted the proceedings and trooped into the well of the House and started shouting slogans. Purushottam Dangi of Congress was seen rushing towards the Speaker's chair with a big bag. He demanded adequate compensation to hail-hit farmers.
Despite Rohani's repeated appeal, the Congress members showed no signs of truce. The Speaker then adjourned the proceedings for another half-an-hour till 11.30 am.
