The district president of the Samajwadi Party Shamshul Hasan and district president of its women’s wing Natasha Singh have demanded CBI probe into the property of organisations working for Bhopal gas tragedy victims. They have decided to lodge a complaint on the issue with lokayukta on March 2 against all organisations.

While talking to the media persons here on Monday, Hasan said that 30 years ago due to MIC gas leakage around 30,000 people died and many had fallen sick all around Bhopal. These sick people are still getting treated in various hospitals in Bhopal. They are suffering from diseases like cancer, TB and asthma, but the Government is ignoring them, alleged Hasan.

He further alleged that however the present Government has done nothing in terms of providing treatment or availing job opportunities to the gas tragedy victims and that has exacerbated their condition.

Hasan said that earlier livelihood was offered to gas tragedy victims at coach factory knitting centre and shade made with its victims’ money, but the tragedy victims failed to get better facilities as the organisations working for victims became closer to the Chief Minister and convenors of these organisations got richer day by day.

The demand of the Samajwadi Party is that if the gas tragedy victims do not get their compensation, job opportunities and free treatment in one month then the party will gherao the Chief Minister and Governor and the entire Bhopal.

Natasha Singh has demanded a CBI probe into the property of the gas tragedy victim organisations. She wants all the illegal property to be seized and those culprits be arrested and a decision be taken in the matter of gas tragedy victims.
