SP plans stir against franchise in power supply

Staff Reporter

Samajwadi Party (SP) has registered its protest over the decision of power supply through franchise in ten districts of the State.

SP State general secretary and spokesman Rakesh Singh Baghel in a letter to Energy Minister Rajendra Shukla on Tuesday demanded immediate rollback of the decision and if the Government continues with its stand then the SP would launch a stir to oppose it.Baghel said in his letter that the State Government's decision to make power supply through franchise in ten districts of the State including Rewa, Satna, Shahdol, Panna, Chhatarpur, Katni, Narsinghpur and Mandla is anti-people and the power companies in order to cover up their failures are out to implement franchise system by making loss a base.

Baghel further said that if the system gets applicable then the franchise companies that are private companies in order to earn profit would start exploiting the consumers. They would send bills of their will, would cut power of those who become late in paying bills or are not able to pay it, would indulge in  roughing up consumers and in order to earn more and more profits would invent newer ways each day. This would pave way for the rise of power mafia in the state in the result law and order situation would further deteriorate and atmosphere of anarchy would build up in the state, he added.

He said that in these circumstances it would not be appropriate to implement the franchise system hence the decision should immediately be taken back.
