Son-rise on MP political horizon

Girish Sharma

With elections approaching, many sons are rising on the political horizon of Madhya Pradesh. There seems to be a competition between Congress and BJP, where high and mighty plan to introduce their wards in politics.

AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh had publicly claimed last year that his son Jaivardhan Singh would contest the Assembly polls and Jaivardhan had embarked upon 150 km padyatra of the Raghogarh constituency. later, early this month, Jaivardhan returned from Horvard University after completing his studies and officially joined the Congress in Guna district headquarters.

Besides, taking a cue from Jaivardhan, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's son, Kartikeya, who has just turned 18, moved in his father's constituency Budhni.

The BJP claimed that he would not contest elections as he is still studying. However, Chouhan had earlier clarified to the media that his son is not going to join politics.

like his father, Kartikeya awakened the neo-voters on the issue of power of voting by spreading the message of Swami Vivekanand and Jan Sangh founder, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and also highlighted the importance of even a single vote. His statement that those who do not cast their votes do not have right to live in the country, was widely criticised.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's son, Mahanaryaman Scindia is also likely to join the political fray. He had participated in various programmes in Shivpuri and Ashoknagar districts last year. locals claim that he impressed the audience with his oratory skills.

Similar is the case with Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Kantilal Bhuria's son, Vikrant, who has started preparations in Jhabua.

He has decided to contest polls from Jhabua under the guidance of his father.

Other wards of the politicians who have joined the bandwagon include Akash Vijayvargiya, son of IT Minister Kaisha Vijayvargiya, Panchayats and Rural Development Minister Gopal Bhargava's son Abhishek, Housing and Environment Minister Jayant Malaiya's son Sidharth, Finance Minister Raghavji's daughter Jyoti Shah, former Minister Prenmnarayan Thakur's son, Uttam and Kamal Patel's son Sandeep.

Sons of these senior politicians have already started working in their respective constituencies from where they are likely to seek ticket. Surprisingly, most of these sons of BJP leaders are already in politics after having worked in the BJP Yuva Morcha.
