Sibal slams State Govt, media

SR

Union Communications and IT Minister Kapil Sibal, while talking to media persons here on Sunday, called the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and media corrupt, although he did not mention anything about Congress-led United progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

Appearing to be least perturbed over serial scams during the UPA-led government at the Centre, Sibal only blamed the Opposition BJP.

Targeting the BJP government in the State, Sibal said there was "rampant corruption" under the BJP government. He said crores of rupees had been recovered in raids at the residence of an IAS couple in the State and it appeared the entire bureaucracy was corrupt, but the State Government was doing nothing about it. The people had now seen the true face of BJP and they would defeat it in the Assembly elections in November 2013, Sibal said.

When asked about the scams at the Centre, he lambasted the media too. "You'll have paid news. Corruption is a societal problem. We have to work together against it." Sibal began by calling Madhya Pradesh a "lab of corruption." "Every official here is corrupt. Who is not corrupt here...IJ

The combination of crime and corruption here makes it even more dangerous.

leader of Opposition in the lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj is an MP from Vidisha in the State. She talks in Parliament of rape when her own State has the highest number of rapes."

He also claimed that news channels did not highlight the good work of the UPA.

"This happens because the coverage of good work by the UPA-II may not lead to rise in TRPs," Sibal said.
