To mark the Tourism Year 2015-16, the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation has provided six ‘Shikara’ boats for tourists at Sair-Sapata. Earlier, the facility of Shikara was available only at Dal lake of Kashmir. Now, the tourists from North, South and Central India can enjoy such boating in Bhopal, instead of going to Kashmir.

These boats have been named after famous rivers of the State. They have been named as Narmada, Kshipra, Tapti, Betwa, Kulans and Kaliyasot respectively. In order to provide tourists with security, these boats are made up of Glass Reinforced Plastic (fiber), which prevents them from getting submerged under any conditions. The material is completely environment friendly.  Boats were manufactured by ‘Kolkata Boat Builders’. Two adults along with the boatman can travel in the Shikara at a time. The fee for half an hour is Rs50. Every day the tourists can enjoy the Shikara.
