What happens when the relationship between husband and wife takes a drastic turnIJ This was showcased in the play Shadow of Macbeth staged on Friday at Antarang Hall, Bharat Bhavan. Marking the first day of 16th Rang Adhaar Theatre Fest, Shadow of Macbeth was performed before the theatre lovers of the city. Presented in the mime form, the play portrayed the relationship between Macbeth and his wife lady Macbeth. The play was directed by Manoj Nair and was beautifully performed by the artistes of Shadow Group, Bhopal. The play is adopted from Shakespeare’s play Macbeth.
lady Macbeth is a character in Shakespeare's Macbeth. She is the wife of the play's protagonist, Macbeth, a Scottish noble man. After goading him into committing regicide, she becomes Queen of Scotland, but later suffers pangs of guilt for her part in the crime. She dies off-stage in the last act as an apparent suicide. The whole story revolves around them. lady Macbeth has a powerful presence in the play, most notably in the first two acts. Following the murder of King Duncan, however, her role in the plot diminishes. She becomes an uninvolved spectator to Macbeth's plotting, and nervous host at a banquet dominated by her husband's hallucinations.
According to the director Manoj Nair, “The relationship between husband and wife is a very strong one and if one betrays another, then the problem arises, which results in drastic tragedies. William Shakeshpeare’s Macbeth is an example of this. We have tried to showcase it more clearly through Shadow of Macbeth.”
The play was beautifully performed and much enjoyed by the audience. The music and light designed played an important role in the presentation of the play adding more zest to it.
