Culture Minister laxmikant Sharma has said that Ram leela will be held on a grand scale at Orchha every year amd minimum 10 Ram leela Mandlis will be invited. Apart from India, Ram leela is staged in 20 countries. Sharma expressed these views at inauguration of 7-day Ram leela Utsav at Orchha on Saturday.
Sharma said that Ram leela will be held on international level and its detailed outlines will be chalked out soon. To keep the art of Ram leela alive, a training centre is being opened in Chitrakoot. The Culture Department is holding Ram leela Utsav for last 30 years. and for last 8 years, its being held at Orchha. This year, it is being staged by Avadh Adarsh Ram leela Mandal under direction of Mahant Baba Jairam Das Ji from April 13 to 19.
Sharma said that Orchha owes its identity to Ramraja Sarkar in the country and abroad. An action plan is afoot to ensure integrated development of Orchha.
MP Virendra Kumar said that Ram leela is integral part of our culture, not only in various parts of the country, but also in foreign countries Ram leela is held in different styles.
Sharma laid the foundation stone of ‘Saket’ Ramayan Kala Sangrahalaya. which was destroyed due to fire last year, material, pictures and literatures used for staging Ramayan and Ram leela in different styles in country and abroad will be preserved at this museium.
Orchha Development Authority Chairman Surendra Singh Rathore, and Vice-Chairman Akhilesh Ayachi, were present on the occasion.
