An event on ‘Harassment of women at workplace’ was held on Friday at Field Centre, Jatkhedi. The event was organised under a 15 day campaign on ‘Violence against Women’ being held across the globe.
Violence against women weather physical or psychological is one of the burning issues existing in our society. Despite of several efforts from the government and NGOs at various level women and girls are facing a lot in term of violence.
An interaction session on ‘Harassment of women at workplace’ was organised by Uday MP an NGO.
The programme was organised with an aim to spread awareness about what women can do if she is facing domestic or workplace harassment.
As many as 70 women domestic workers participated in the programme. Programme started with speaker Sheetal focusing on the importance of the celebration of International fortnight to end violence against women and girls.
In India it is celebrated till 16th December (Nirbhaya day) which marks the unity to end violence against women and girls.
Naseema from Ashna Women Rights Resource centre emphasized that women can register complaint with the local complaint committee within three months.
To register complaint she should visit to Collector office. She also emphasise that women should not tolerate any types of violence. It is our constitutional right to work freely and safely.
It is to be noted that Uday with the medium of legal Cell Nyay Chaupal organises awareness programs and trainings regularly in the slums to spread information on the legal rights among women.
