Series of murders in Sagar alarming: HM

Staff Reporter

Home Minister Narottam Mishra said about the continuous killings in Sagar on Thursday that he has spoken to the Superintendent of Police and put the force on alert mode. Along with this, night patrolling and watchmen have also been informed. Public awareness is also being done.

Home Minister Mishra said that CCTV footage has also been extracted from different places. In one or two places CCTV footage shows someone running. He hoped that the police would come to a conclusion very soon. Mishra said that prima facie it is coming out that only one person is doing this. But unless he is caught, saying anything will create confusion or it is too early.

Let us tell you that Kalyan Singh Lodhi was first murdered on August 27 in Sagar. In the factory, the watchman Kalyan Singh was hit on the head with a hammer while he was sleeping. The second killing was that of the watchman of the Art and Commerce College on August 29. Here Shambhudayal Dubey's head was smashed with stones while sleeping. Third murder Mangal Ahirwar, the watchman of an under-construction house, was attacked with a shovel while he was sleeping. All these incidents took place between 1 and 4 in the night.

Similarly, three months back, in a similar incident, a middle-aged night guard Uttam Rajak, who worked at an under construction over-bridge site, was found murdered in the same manner in which three other watchmen were killed, suggesting the possibility of a common link to all four brutal killings.

The Sagar district police superintendent Tarun Nayak has constituted multiple teams to nab the serial killer and declared Rs 20,000 bounty on the killer’s arrest.

A sketch of the suspect has also been released based on the information provided by the serial killer’s latest victim (who died during the course of treatment) and CCTV footage retrieved from the spots of the killing.
