Senior journalist passes away

Staff Reporter

Senior journalist and former reporter of The Pioneer passed away here on Sunday after prolonged illness. The last rites would be performed on Monday.

He also worked with Indore edition of the Hindustan Times till 2013, when he fell sick. He was battling with cancer for over a year.

Saeed was an excellent reporter, who represented the best in journalism, using it as a vehicle for social change and fighting for the cause of the poor and the downtrodden.

Saeed also enjoyed an excellent command over language.

Indore MP and lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, members of Indore Press Club, charitable organisations, and residents contributed generously towards his treatment.

Saeed was known among his friends and peers for his excellent penmanship, wry wit and deep understanding of the subjects he dealt with in his decade long career with Hindustan Times.

Though often gruff in the exterior, he had a sensitive nature which made him a natural champion for the cause of the underdog, and his writings reflected as much.
