A national level seminar on land reforms was held at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday. Speakers from across the country talked about the land reforms in India, problems and consequences as well.
The daylong seminar was jointly organised by Ekta Parishad along with SDF Delhi and Marag Ahmadabad. During the seminar, K Vidyabushan Rawat of SDF said that 71 years of independence, people are still living in the absence of infrastructure. land is a major source of livelihood, but problems of landless people in the country have not been resolved till today.
land is being given to the capitalists after acquiring land in the name of interest and being evicted from the dalit and tribal lands. The Government has land to give to the capitalists, but there is no land for the landless. In Madhya Pradesh, despite all the laws and policies, people are struggling with land related problems.
Rawat said that there is a corporate loot of land in the country. But the Government is constantly ignoring the demand of land by the landless. Without social equality, political democracy has no meaning. People who are talking about the rights of the people nowadays face dangers.
To resolve land issues, a fast track court should be constituted, those who have leases should be given possession, those who have occupied should be given lease and those who have nothing, they should give land, he added.
National President of Integration Council Rasingh Parmar said that the Ekta Parishad has constantly stirred movement for the rights of the people on water, forest and land. Many policies and legislation are its consequences, but they are still not being followed properly.
State Convenor of Ekta Parishad Deepak Agarwal said that a large number of people are being displaced from the Bina project. land of Bhudan in Morena has not been received till date. In the seminar, the co-workers of Raisen, Sagar, Vidisha, Sehore discussed about the problems of their respective districts.
