The sculptures made during the ‘scrap to sculpture’ workshop at Anand Niketan democratic school would be exhibited in Shaheed Bhawan from January 1 to 4.

The sculptures would also be displayed in the Vihaan International Festival of Arts (VIFA) of the Vihaan Drama Works.

The workshop was organized by the anand niketan democratic school in collaboration with Muskaan, Arushi, Eklavya and Vihaan Drama Works.

Notably, noted Sculptor Tushar Vadalkar, Prashant Vadalkar, Mohan Shigne and Rajni Shigne took part in the workshop.

Eklavya’s senior Artist Prem Manmouji has guided the students to make the sculptures of plastic, wood and other scraps.

While talking about these sculptures, noted ceramic artist Shampa Shah says, “The youngness of the eyes of the students could be traced in these sculptures of this workshop. There are various contours hidden behind these well-known things such as cycle’s bell, handle, seat and gear box, she added.”

Disposal of the waste or scarp is a difficult task hence creating pieces of art from the waste or scrap is a good thing. This kind of workshops should be promoted as these workshops train the students and the people to transform the scrap into art.

The sculptures were made by the scraps such as old cycles, utensils, chairs, tools, wires, nuts, bolts, rods, plastic materials and other metallic scraps during the workshop. Participants and the students of the Anand Niketan School made striking sculptures using these scraps in the workshop.
