Salt scam a figment of Diggy's imagination, says Mishra

SR

Reacting over the corruption allegations leveled by Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh in salt purchase in the State, Madhya Pradesh Government’s spokesman and senior minister of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet Narottam Mishra on Wednesday said that Singh has come out with imaginary scam.

In a statement Mishra said, “The person who advocates real scams done by Congress led UPA Government at centre is out to malign the image of the State Government by creating misunderstandings over imaginary scam.”

Mishra further said that the salt purchasing procedure in the State was fully transparent following all rules and regulations through calling proper tenders. This was not done unlike the UPA Government’s coal allocation or spectrum allocation that was like obliging near and dear ones. In Madhya Pradesh, proper tenders are invited for salt purchasing and healthy competition was ensured in it, he added.

He said that while comparing Madhya Pradesh with Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh the Congress general secretary easily hides outs the fact that both these states are coastal whereas Madhya Pradesh is a land locked State. Both these States are salt producing States whereas Madhya Pradesh is salt consuming State. The three States are not only geographically different but their salt economies are also different. In Madhya Pradesh ISI mark quality salt is purchased whereas in Andhra Pradesh standard salt is purchased, he added.

He said that the Singh, also former chief minister of the State is not only confused due to the misleading information provided to him by his corporate friends but is also trying to confuse the people of the state on the basis of the misleading information. Irony is that the Mahatma Gandhi utilised the issue of salt for ‘Satyagrah’ while Digvijay Singh is using it for ‘Asatyagrah.’
