Coming days are going to be more tougher not only for the bureaucracy in the State but also for the Government as Right to Information (RTI) classes have been started in the slum areas of the State to educate the masses about this right.

RTI activist Ajay Dubey, who is educating the masses, while talking to The Pioneer said, “We have started ‘RTI Pathshala’ in the slums of the State to educate the common man to resolve their issues as per law. The movement was started from Khandwa earlier in this month that was followed in the State capital where a class to educate the slum dwellers with the RTI act was held on December 18 at New Jatkhedi slums.”

Dubey said that we have especially chosen slums dwellers to educate them about the RTI, because it is this section of the society that votes in large numbers and then suffers a lot also. lives life in most problems and spends life looking for basic facilities including cleanliness, water and security that are constitutional right of every citizen. Most of the part of the common man’s life is spent hoping that at some point of time in life he would get rid of these problems, he added.

“We are educating the slum dwellers with the RTI and our mission would is to cover all the slum areas of the State. Our volunteers would aware the people about the RTI and would also provide the RTI form to them and teach them how to fill that to seek their desired information. Bedsides, we are on the look for those active people in the slums who could take on this battle for their respective areas and we are confident that we would be able to find out couple of persons in every slum area of the state who would raise people’s voice through RTI,” he added.

Through the RTI, people could not only get status of their pending works but could also question the elected peoples’ representatives about the status of the promises made by them during the elections and that how long would that promises get to be fulfilled. Slum dwellers could know through it about the quality of the mid day meal and they could get this information for free as the provisions of the act permits the BPl families to get their  desired information without any fee, he added.
