The team RSB Chennai emerged as the winner of All India Civil Services Basketball Competition 2017. The competition was organised at TT Nagar Stadium that concluded here on Wednesday.
RSB Chennai won the competition by defeating Central Secretariat Delhi by 93-91 points. Central Secretariat secured the second position. In the hard-line match, Ahmedabad defeated Hyderabad by a margin of 101-64 bagging the third position.
On the concluding day, the final match was played between Central Secretariat and RSB Chennai. In the match till mid-time, the Central Secretariat team maintained the lead with 63-61 points but after the Half Time, the players of RSB Chennai displayed a brilliant game, 93-91 By winning the match with the difference of two points. There were five international players in both teams.
As many as 335 players including 10 intl players and officers from different States of the country participated in this competition. Besides, following the rules of International Basketball Association, a total of 36 matches were played on the basis of league short knockout.
The competition was held for the second time by the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare of Madhya Pradesh. The All India Civil Services Basketball competition, which began from November 12 in the city stadium, concluded on Wednesday. In the closing ceremony, the Chief Guest Director Sports and Youth Welfare Upendra Jain feted the winners, runners-up teams and players by providing trophies and medals. Upendra Jain congratulated all the players for their outstanding performance and congratulated them.
On the eve, Secretary, Indian Basketball Federation, Chandramukhi Sharma and Joint Director Sports Vinod Pradhan were also present.
