Staff Reporter

An amount of Rs 42.11 crore has been sanctioned for distribution among the 23,102 farmers of district Datia under the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme. This amount will be distributed shortly among the farmers.

It may be mentioned that Datia stands on top not only in the state but in the entire country for payment against claims under the Prime Minister Crop Insurance scheme. Earlier, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had distributed a sum of Rs 9.39 crore as an interim claim among the 16,260 farmers last November.

The Prime Minister Narendar Modi had launched this scheme for the farmers in February 2016.

Datia district had achieved top position towards payment against interim amount claims under the scheme and now again is achieving top position in final claim amount. Being sensitive towards the issues of the farmers, Madhya Pradesh government has helped them during the calamity.

Chouhan and Public Relations Minister Narottam Mishra are making constant efforts for the progress of the farmers. Collectors Datia Madan Kumar has also worked hard at the district level. This was praised by the farmers during the Relief Amount Distribution Programme held under the Crop Insurance Scheme.

When Mishra came to know about the damage to the Kharif crop of the farmers of district Datia, he directed the Collector Kumar to conduct a survey immediately.

Patwaris and Revenue Officers along with the agriculture department and insurance company conducted the survey visiting village to village and assessed the loss to the crop. An amount of over Rs 9 crore was distributed by the Chief Minister Chouhan on November 4, 2016 in Datia in the form of interim claim payment on the basis of loss to the crop.
