Rohani's son fielded from Jabalpur Cantt

SR

In the second list of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh, former Assembly Speaker late Ishwardas Rohani's son Ashok Rohani has been fielded from Jabalpur Cantt.

Besides, Mukesh Chaturvedi, younger brother of former Congress leader Choudhary Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi has been fielded from Mehgaon.

Rakesh had joined the BJP by quitting Congress during the last session of the State assembly and he had demanded ticket for his brother. For fielding Mukesh, the BJP has dropped the ticket of sitting MlA Rakesh Shkla.

This has sent a negative signal among the local partymen and they are up in the arms in the leadership of Shukla. In the list, nine women, 14 scheduled caste and 12 scheduled tribe candidates have been fielded from different constituencies.

Notably, with this list of 84 candidates, the BJP has now declared 210 candidates and now it has to declare 20 remaining candidates. Only one day - Thursday -- is left for declaring the remaining candidates, because Friday is the last date for filing nominations and that too before 3 pm.

With the announcement of 210 candidates, the saffron party is facing opposion against party nominees at several places. On Wednesday, the dissidents opened front in Bhind, Shajapur and Ratlam. At few places, they burnt effigies of BJP candidates.

Meanwhile, BJP vice president Prabhat Jha has claimed that there is opposition to party nominees only a couple of places and that would be cooled down without hustle. He claimed that the party would not cancel any ticket announced till date.

To a query, Jha stated that the BJP is also waiting for the Congress' second list to finalise its remaining candidates. Regarding how many seats the BJP would win, he said, "I would not give any figure, but the BJP would win the Assembly elections with comfortable majority.
