Staff Reporter

Displaying courage, a 21-year-old saved her family from dacoits and forced them to leave her house at Bairagarh in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to the police, around half a dozen dacoits barged into Naresh Chotrani’s house in Bairagarh and entered the room of his mother Rukmani Devi. Naresh’s daughter Ruchika was sleeping along with Rukmani.

Soon after reaching the room, the miscreants held the two hostage and tied them using the bed sheet and started searching for the valuables and after failing to find the valuables, one of them put a knife on Ruchika’s neck and demanded to provide the location of valuables but without fearing she cleverly dodged them and said that she is relative of the house owner and has arrived from other city and she is not aware about the valuables.

However, she got injured when the dacoits put a knife on her neck but still kept cool and mislead them. She told them that around 8-10 people are sleeping in other rooms of the house. The dacoits instructed her to knock the door of other rooms and ask others to come outside but before they could force her to do so, she pushed the dacoit holding knife on her neck and raised an alarm which alerted Naresh and other family members and they came out of their rooms to rescue Ruchika. Witnessing presence of family members, the dacoits were forced to leave and escaped. Naresh’s son Ankit tried to follow the dacoits but they managed to flee.

Around 3.20 am police were intimated regarding the incident and on the receipt of information, a police team reached the spot. The dacoits managed to escape with two gold bangles of Naresh’s mother and around `1 lakh in cash.
