On the pretext of marriage, a 16-year-old girl was exploited sexually by her relative at Manjhi Nagar; a case of sexual assault was registered by Bairagarh police on Wednesday.
According to the police, the victim was raped several times by the relative Karan Chouhan who lured her of marriage but when the victim got pregnant she reported the incident to the family members and subsequently lodged a complaint with the Bairagarh police.
Police said that the accused is relative of the victim and lives in the same area. The accused used to visit the victim’s house frequently during which he developed relationship with the accused. later when the victim got pregnant she informed Chouhan, who refused to marry the victim and threatened her not to report the incident to her family. However, feeling dejected over the denial and being pregnant, the victim braved to report the family about the accused and his act after which the family members lodged a complaint with the Bairagarh police.
Accused work as painter with a contractor and went missing after the victim lodged a complaint with the police. The police have started search for the accused and claims that the accused would be nabbed soon.
A case under section 376, 506 of the IPC and section 3, 4, 5 and 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act-2012.
The contractor for which the victim works and his family members would be questioned to trace the whereabouts of the accused said the police.
