Rights activist Ajay Dubey has warned the State Government that if it fails to adopt transparent mechanism for recruitment lokayukta and Deputy lokayukta in 10 days, on behalf of people of State, he would issue public advertisement to fill the post.
Right To Information (RTI) activist from the State capital Ajay Dubey in a statement on Thursday informed that he has written to the chief secretary of the State to adopt transparent process such as by inviting applications through advertisement that would help Government to find the best suitable persons for these important posts.
Notably, the post of Deputy lokayukta is lying vacant from February 1, 2014 and the present lokayukta is completing his 6 year term on June 28.
Dubey in his letter to the chief secretary said, “I would like to bring to your notice the Circular dated January 17, 2014 regarding the appointment of the lokpal and members at the Centre. The circular has been released by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievance and Pensions (Department of Personnel and Training - GOI) for the fulfillment of above mentioned objective. The Circular is inviting applications for the appointment for the post of the lokpal and the members. As an RTI activist I appreciate the effort on part of the Central government. It is also mandatory for the government to respect Article 16 of the Indian Constitution which speaks of equality of opportunity. My objective to write this letter is to request you to adopt the same procedure in the state in transparent manner. I had made a request earlier last year on January 19, 2014 but till date I have not received any reply in this regard.”
The RTI activist further in his letter warned that if Government does not adopt a transparent mechanism for such recruitment within 10 days from now than on behalf of people of Madhya Pradesh he would issue a public advertisement to fill the above mentioned positions. In the advertisement we would a request to all the eligible persons to send their bio data to the Madhya Pradesh Government, he added.
