Regarding speculation of former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia being appointed as PCC Chief, Scindia said that he was ready to take any responsibility the high command decides.
Scindia was talking to media persons after participating in the core committee meeting of the PCC at Chief Minister’s residence on Saturday night. Scindia left for Jait, home village of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
He informed that party’s debacle in the Lok Sabha polls was discussed and it would continue in coming days too.
The core committee of Madhya Pradesh Congress met here at the residence of Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Saturday.
Senior party leaders including AICC general secretary Deepak Babaria, former chief minister Digvijay Singh, former Union ministers Arun Yadav, Kantilal Bhuria and Jyotiraditya Scindia remained present at the meeting.
Besides, Former leader of opposition in State assembly Ajay Singh, Rajya Sabha MPs Vivek Tankha, Rajmani Patel and newly-elected Congress MP from Chhindwara Nakul Nath were also present.
This was for the first-time when all party leaders met in here after Congress party’s debacle in Lok Sabha elections.
The discussions ranged from Lok Sabha results, its outcome and effects on the Kamal Nath Government to appointment of the next state Congress president.
Notably, in 2014, the Congress in Madhya Pradesh was in possession of two out of 29 Lok Sabha seats.
A year later, it recovered its
bastion Ratlam tribal constituency during a bypoll after the demise of BJP’s former MP Dilip Singh
Bhuria.
A senior functionary of the party told that nobody that expected 2019 would be a major debacle for the party than 2014.
Five months before the Lok Sabha contest, the Congress won the assembly election and formed Government in the state. And then in the Lok Sabha, it got just one seat.
