A heavy spell of rains in some parts of the State capital on Friday afternoon brought relief from the scorching heat. For the past few days high day temperature was being experienced in the city,  making it quite sultry and inconvenient.

The city received good amount of rainfall on Friday but the pattern might not be persisting and would soon peter out, bringing back the scorching heat once again, and giving rise to the humid conditions in the city again. Heavy rainfall was witnessed in the afternoon which continued for around 3 hours and later light drizzle continued for an hour making the weather conditions pleasant. Day temperature was recorded at 32.8 degree Celsius. The night temperature the previous night was also recorded above normal temperature levels.

Gwalior recorded day temperature at 38.4 degree Celsius on Friday which was 6 degree Celsius above normal temperature. In contrast to the hot and humid conditions, several regions of the State also received good rainfall in the past 24 hours. Khandwa received 7 cm of rainfall, Saunsar received 5 cm of rainfall, Atner received 4 cm of rainfall, Ashta and Maheswar received 2 cm of rainfall in the past 24 hours. Several regions received 1 cm of rainfall. The Met department officials said that these rains are not monsoon induced rains, that the rains on Friday were induced by the local development of the system.

A system is visible but would take 3-4 days for rainfall across the State. Initially Northern region of the State would receive rainfall which would be followed by rainfall in remaining part of the State. Met officials said the south-west region of the State would receive the rainfall due to a system in Marathwada .
