When her husband died, she took up the responsibility of the entire kingdom. She fought the East India Company and challenged the Britishers that she will not give her Jhansi. She was ‘Queen of Jhansi Rani laxmi Bai’.
Her tale of valour was narrated by little artists of the city through a dance drama ‘Manikarnika’. The dance drama was staged at Shaheed Bhavan auditorium here on Thursday. The event was organized by Nav Nritya Natya Sanstha, Bhopal. Conceptualised by Tarun Dutt Pandey, the dance drama is choreographed and directed by Sneha Ashutosh Singh Bhadauria.
The interesting fact that made the dance drama even more charismatic was the Kathak dancing style which was beautifully infused in the play. Besides, a performance of splendor was presented by the artists from 4 to 14 years old kids making it even more enjoyable.Notably, laxmibai earned the title of Jhansi of Rani for the valour with which she fought the British, while overcoming several personal setbacks. After losing Gangadhar Rao, the widowed laxmi Bai took up the responsibility of her kingdom Jhansi and became the Queen of the kingdom.
She was supported by Tantia Tope, Baji Rao II, Jhalkari Bai as accompanists and together they fought against the British during Revolt of 1857. The musical play was well presented through the kathak steps. The excellent command of rhythm as well as their natural flair for profound expression clearly showcased the little artists’ expertise.
