Before counting of votes for formation of the 14th Assembly of Madhya Pradesh commences, both Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are on a feedback overdrive.
Party sources said seven Ministers and party candidates during the present Assembly elections met the Chief Minister and State’s organisational general secretary of the party, Arvind Menon.
Notably, most of the Ministers in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan Cabinet are being considered in the ‘danger zone’ and the Urban Administration and Development (UAD) Minister Babulal Gaur had on Friday claimed to the visiting media saying there were several Ministers who did not do constructive work in their constituencies and were not going to hit paydirt in the elections.
But to buttress themselves, party leaders — instead of accepting a few Ministers are in hot water — claimed there is tough competition in those constituencies. Sources informed that the Ministers who called on the Chief Minister and State’s organisational general secretary of the party Arvind Menon on Saturday included Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta, Jayant Malaiya, Ramkrishna Kusmariya, Mahendra Hardia and Karan Singh Verma.
Besides, a few sitting MlAs, including lalita Yadav, who are in the ‘danger zone’ also called on Arvind Menon. They informed in detail regarding those local leaders and party workers who had worked against the grain of the party during the canvassing and polling stages. Meanwhile, the BJP is also conducting a separate retrospect of the situation on all the 230 constituencies. The State BJP president Narendra Singh Tomar and Arvind Menon have indicated that any punitive action would be taken against those who worked against party nominees only after the counting of votes.
