Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor-in-Council has approved the proposal of distribution of the houses and has also approved to release the tender for the construction of houses at five places of the city under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
The Mayor-in-council has approved the construction of the houses on Saturday during the meeting of the Council. Bhopal Mayor Alok Sharma chaired the meeting of the Mayor-in-Council. The Council has approved the proposal of construction of houses at five places and approved Rs 685 crores for the proposed construction work of 9096 houses at Kokta, 12 number bus stop, Ganga Nagar, Shyam Nagar and Vajpayee Nagar of Bhopal.
The proposed construction of 9096 houses at five different places of Bhopal under PMAY was approved by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation on August 31. Under this scheme, 5856 EWS houses, 2088 lIG houses and 1152 MIG houses will be constructed. Construction of a single EWS house will cost Rs 8 lakh 10 thousand while the expected cost of a lIG house is Rs 12 lakh and an MIG house will cost Rs 17 lakh under the scheme.
