For solution of the Kashmir problem, it is required to understand the society of Jammu Kashmir. “We should understand its history and internal system. A micro community wants to dominate the original Kashmir people,” said Vice-Chancellor and expert of Himalayan issues Prof Kuldeep Chandra Agnihotri.

Agnihotri expressed these views in a special lecture programme on 'Kashmir Problem and Solutions', organised by Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Community, Bhopal to mark birth anniversary of Makhanlal Chaturvedi on Wednesday.

Public Relations and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra was the chief guest of the function. University Vice-Chancellor Jagdish Upasane chaired it.

Prof Agnihotri further said that now the situations are improving in Jammu & Kashmir as youth there have understood that outsider Gilanis and Sayyeds people want to continue leadership. The government did not talk with original people of the state. Efforts for talks were made only with Gilanis and Sayyeds. He said that it is absolutely incorrect that Raja Harisingh did not want merger of his state in India. Pointing out sequence of events and historical facts, Prof Agnihotri said that the Maharaja did not accept merger of his state in Pakistan despite constant efforts and pressure from governor general lord Mountbatten.

First Prime Minister Pt Jawaharlal Nehru too wanted the merger of Jammu-Kashmir in India but had put a rider that the merger should be through Sheikh Abdulla. Even as other states were merged on the basis of merger agreement by other states' Raja and Maharaja.

He said that only two per cent people who hails from Arab countries are creating disturbance and known as he-goats because of their beard. Original Kashmiri people are known as lions. Our governments have been holding talks with he-goats and not with lions. He further said that the Britishers divided India as a strategy to end land route of the country with neighbours.

University Vice-Chancellor Jagdish Upasane called upon students to be good citizen with becoming successful media persons. The university will prepare them as 'ready to hire' for the job. Upasane also appealed the students to study literature of Makhanlal Chaturvedi.
