A primary school teacher Subhash Yadav, known for his innovative methods of teaching in Dhar district will give a lecture to the Indian Services officials at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie on Tuesday.
He would inform the trainee officials (IAS, IPS and IRS) about the innovative ways he has developed in primary school teaching village Kadgipura of Dhar district.
Yadav first came to limelight recently when he received President’s award for innovations in the field of Education. His contribution to the field of education was important, as had teaching the students with his special methods, got 52 students selected in Navoday School.
Yadav told that for past 20 years, he has been preparing his own study materials to help out the students. His innovative teaching includes the way the students reply to the attendance in class. Instead of speaking out ‘Yes Sir’, when their names are called, they speak out names of vegetables, fruits, mathematical numbers of solutions to any sum.
Besides, Yadav sits among the children while teaching them by dividing the students in group of five numbers each.
He said that mostly in rural areas, the students face a basic problem of not understanding mathematics and language (particularly Hindi) and thus they quit school. Yadav first took it as a challenge, while teaching children of labourers and succeeded in getting them admitted to Navoday School.
Later, he was transferred to tribal dominated Kagdipura village, where the presence of students was almost negligible. Later, the situation improved and now the students from nearby villages also started coming to the school and learning fast both mathematics and Hindi, he added.
“I provided maximum opportunities to the students to speak out in the class and in the classrooms, play corners were developed where they learn while playing,” he added. By now, over a hundred poor students thought by Yadav are doing well in higher education and on government jobs.
