Pre-monsoon showers lashed several parts of the State in the last 24 hours creating flood like situation at a few places.

Thundery activities and light showers in Bhopal in the afternoon on Friday made the day weather soothing by bringing down the temperature to 36 degree C.

The city recorded day temperature at 36.2 degree C while the night temperature was recorded at 27.1 degree C.

With a few exceptions, day temperatures were witnessed in the range of 36-38 degree C across the State.

Pachmarhi recorded 4 cm of rainfall,  Amarwad and  Jobat recorded 3 cm of rainfall,  Chhindwara, Anooppur recorded 2 cm in the past 24 hours. Among the major cities Indore recorded day temperature at 34 degree C and the night temperature was recorded at 23.4 degree C.

Ashoba cyclone disrupted the movement of the monsoon winds which delayed its onset in the State by a couple of days but the pre-monsoon showers created havoc as rivers were flooded at a few places.

Met department officials claimed that the day temperatures have dipped down by a few notches after the light showers which were witnessed in the past two days across the State.

Sea storms are forming over the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal but Ashoba cyclone has lost its intensity. On Friday, a strong system over the Bay of Bengal was formed and low pressure moisture would increase and wind direction would become south-western which would help the swift movement of the monsoon.

It is expected that the monsoon would hit the city around June 19-20 and in Jabalpur and adjoining areas of Chhattisgarh it would arrive around June 16.
