The Gandhi Nagar police has arrested a fraudster involved in duping victims in the name of facilitating jobs and attaching loading auto rickshaw in government departments on rent; accused have duped victims in several cities.
Police said that the accused Mehmood Khan (53) of Ujjain was arrested after police received information regarding his whereabouts. The accused has been booked by five other police stations for fraud.
The accused confessed that he has been duping people from the year 2018. He has been booked Habibganj, Bajaria, Shymala Hills and Bairagarh police for frauds.
Accused used to take small amounts Rs 3000 to Rs 6000 from the victims and due to which victims shied from lodging complaints. From the accused police have scooter bearing registration number MP04SR9310 owned by Priyanka Dhurve.
Notably, Gandhi Nagar police booked a man for duping a 26-year-old girl in the name of facilitating job at Central Jail and duped her of Rs 6500 and a scooter on November 2, 2020.
The victim Priyanka Dhurve was duped by accused who posed as Mahesh Chouhan offered to facilitate job at Central Jail when she met during visit to her fiancé serving jail. The accused escaped with scooter Rs 6500 and her scooter from District Collector office.
The police registered a case of fraud against the accused and arrested accused. During the investigation it was found that more people have been duped in other areas luring them of the same.
