Baghsewania police have nabbed 17 persons consuming hookah served illegally during a raid conducted at Cowboy restaurant and Lounge at Om Nagar trisection late in the night on Monday.
According to the SHO Sanjeev Chouksey police were receiving reports of the hookah been served at the restaurant which was illegal. After several complaints in the night on Monday the place was raided and during the raid 17 persons were found consuming hookah.
The hookah was operated in the restaurant which was not meant for hookah and where tobacco products were served. The hookah lounge was operated by Malik Parvez while Chatrapal and three others were booked for serving the hookah.Police have recovered large quantities of hookah tobacco from the restaurant and .
Police said that for long the restaurant was serving and hookah. The police have registered a case under sections 4, 27 and 31 of Control of Tobacco Products Act 2003 has been registered against them. Police have seized 7 Hookah and liquor bottles from the restaurant. The crime record of Malik is under investigation said police.
Meanwhile, Shahpura police have nabbed a drug peddler near Bawadia Kalan bridge and recovered 800 gm Cannabis from his possession on Monday.
The police acted swiftly on a tip-off and nabbed accused who was carrying drugs which was Cannabis weighing 800 gm from his possession. The accused was identified as Kuldeep alias Ajay Pathak who failed to provide details of the drugs recovered from his possession.
Police said that the details of procurement and delivery of the drugs would be probed in the further investigation. After the initial investigation, the police have registered a case under sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act.
