Jehangirabad police have arrested the operator of an illegally run bar and a dozen others for consuming alcohol in violation of the Excise Act. The operation came after police received a tip-off about an unauthorized liquor establishment operating near a wine shop opposite the Police Line.
Acting on the information, police raided the premises and apprehended bar operator Ashu Bajpayee along with eleven patrons who were consuming alcohol at the venue. The authorities seized liquor and related paraphernalia during the operation. The arrested individuals have been charged under Sections 36A and 36B of the Excise Act. Those arrested include Ashu Bajpayee (bar operator), Arun Gaur (29), Satyam Jaiswal (21), Sameer Ali (22), Rahul Rahi (35), Rahul Marotta (37), Ashish Patel (31), Garun Tattwari (30), Naseem Sheikh (38), Bhola Namdev (54), Akshar Raikwar (29), and Santoshi Mishra (24).
Additionally, the police have informed the Excise Department for possible action against the nearby liquor shop and have urged to intensify efforts to combat illegal alcohol operations in the region.
