The MP Nagar police have arrested 19 persons on the charge of gambling and recovered `38100 cash, playing cards and mobile phones during raids at Durga Nagar and near Flour Mill on Saturday.
Acting on a tip off, around 19 gamblers were caught gambling by MP Nagar police late in the night on Saturday from Durga Nagar and near Flour Mill.
Police received information that gamblers are gambling near Flour Mill and based on the information the place was raided where 7 persons were found gambling while one managed to escape from the spot but was identified by the police and would be nabbed, said police.
The gamblers were identified as Ayub Qureshi, Rohit Srivastava ,Arjun Lohar, Vivek Jain ,Omar Qureshi, Kedar Kori and Ratnesh Malviya while Shaqeel managed to escape.
During the raid police recovered mobile phones which were used by the gamblers for betting. From the spot police recovered Rs 32000 cash and playing cards.
Another place were gamblers were gambling was raided at Durga Nagar where 12 gamblers were nabbed betting late in the night on Saturday.
The gamblers were identified as Naseem Khan, Shameem, Shivam Patel, Rajesh Singh, Aleem Shah, Manoj, Bunty, Shah Rukh Azhar, Sadiq Khan, Shahid, Owaaiz.
In both the cases police have registered case under Gambling Act and started investigation. The crime record details of the accused would be investigated. Police have recovered Rs 6100 cash from their possession and playing cards.
